Impact of Bell’s Recent Announcement to cut 1,300 Jobs on TEAM Members: We have heard from a number of members asking whether there will be a VRTIP package targeting TEAM positions for downsizing as a result of Bell’s June 14th announcement that it is cutting 1,300 jobs across the company. At this time, we have received no official word from Bell about impacts of this announcement on TEAM jobs. We recognize that the uncertainty may be a source of stress for members. We will continue to seek clarity from Bell on this question and will provide further updates to the membership when we have some definitive information.
In the meantime, we understand that a number of members have recently self-identified and been approved by Bell for a retirement/departure incentive under our Collective Agreement Letter of Understanding – Self Identification/Voluntary Departure. As TEAM will not receive notification from Bell of members approved through the self-identification process until after the members have actually left, we are asking members who have recently self-identified and been approved to please notify the TEAM office of your upcoming departure (thank you to members who have already been in touch to let us know). TEAM provides a departure gift to eligible members – please contact the TEAM office with any questions.
