TEAM Financial and Retirement Planning Webinar: TEAM will be offering a two-part webinar on topics related to personal financial and retirement planning, presented by certified financial planner, Darryl Robinson.  The webinar is designed to assist members with VRTIP planning and is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12th and Thursday, March 14th, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. You may attend either Part 1 or Part 2, or both (for optimum benefit, it is recommended that you attend both parts).  Here is a brief summary of the topics to be covered:

If you are interested in attending, please register by clicking on the corresponding link(s) above – please register for both parts if you wish to attend both. Confirmation of registration and webinar access details will be provided to attendees closer to the event date.

Important Note:  TEAM is sponsoring the financial planning seminars to assist members in gaining a better understanding of the financial choices they face when planning for their retirement.  The information is being shared for education purposes only, and must not be considered as investment advice.  TEAM strongly recommends that members seek independent professional assistant, such as from a fee-for-service Certified Financial Planner, prior to making any significant financial moves, and in particular, where they are contemplating “cashing-out” their defined benefit pension.

Campaign to Keep Telco Jobs in Manitoba and TEAM: As part of our ongoing campaign to keep telecommunications jobs in Manitoba and TEAM, TEAM President, Dave Eyjolfson sent a letter to the Honourable, Hedy Fry, Chair of the Canadian Parliaments’ Heritage Committee, to highlight concerns about Bell’s current round of job cuts and the impact of continued job reductions on our members, our communities, our economy, and the future of telecommunications work in Canada.  A letter was also sent to the Honourable, Niki Ashton, MP for Churchill—Keewatinook Aski, who sits on the Heritage Committee, requesting a meeting to discuss our concerns further.  BCE’s CEO Mirko Bibic and several other top executives from Bell have been invited to testify before the Committee about the company’s recent decision to cut 9% of its workforce.
