The deadline to apply to the current VSP is 11:59 pm ET this Friday, February 6th.
What happens after you apply:
Targeted Positions: Shortly after the deadline, members in targeted positions will receive notice from Bell regarding their applications, and if approved, Bell will provide a departure date.
Non-targeted positions: For members applying from non-targeted positions, Bell may: 1) deny the application; 2) approve the application, provide a departure date, and not refill the position; or 3) grant conditional approval, provided the position is refilled through the posting process by an employee identified for layoff.
If Bell does not achieve its reduction targets voluntarily through the VSP:
- Outcomes for members in targeted positions will depend on the number and type of non-targeted positions available for posting
- Members vulnerable to layoffs are encouraged to apply for:
- Any current job postings exclusively to TEAM members, and
- Positions within Bell outside of Manitoba that match your skills and qualifications.
Please note that throughout the VSP process, Bell retains its right under the collective agreement to laterally transfer employees, in accordance with Articles 8.02 and 8.03, and per Article 18.
If Bell is unable to refill positions vacated by non-targeted applicants through postings to members identified for layoff, those non-targeted VSP applications will be denied, and Bell may proceed to layoffs. In that case, the Layoff, Bumping, Recall and Employment Status provisions (starting at Article 27.13) as does the LOU – Benefit Status During Recall, will apply.
Please note, for members who are interested in applying for Employment Insurance, we encourage you to contact Service Canada directly for information about initiating a claim.
Please provide your personal email address to the TEAM office, in case we need to contact you and are not able to do so via your work contact information.
As always, please let us know if you have questions or concerns related to the downsizing and/or the departure process.
