IFPTE Manitoba Legislative Advocacy Conference – Reminder: There is still time to sign-up to attend the upcoming IFPTE Manitoba Legislative Advocacy Conference happening next week on January 19th, 2023, from 9:00 am to 4:15 pm, at the Union Centre in Winnipeg. The day will feature a host of speakers from the labour movement who have been involved in political campaigns as well as speakers who specialize in messaging and accessing government officials.
The conference is particularly timely with a provincial election happening later this year. The election provides our members with an opportunity to articulate the issues that are most pressing and to impress upon politicians the reasons our issues need to be addressed. The conference is designed to help members to identify the issues and learn how to best present them. This year the major theme of the conference will be the privatization of government assets and in particular the impact of privatization and contracting out at Bell MTS.
Lunch will be provided and TEAM will release members from their regular work duties and reimburse for parking to attend the event. This is also a great opportunity to interact with some members of the TEAM Board and staff, as well as other members of the IFPTE, including from our fellow IFPTE local here in Winnipeg, WAPSO Local 162. Members interested in attending are asked to please contact the TEAM office asap and by this Friday, January 13th.
Paid Sick Day Entitlements: As we aware of some instances of members initially not being credited with the correct number of paid sick days upon replenishment of their annual allotments on their NCS anniversary dates, we are encouraging members to make note of current allotments of paid days (hours) available, number of sick days (hours) used in the 12-month period since your last NCS date anniversary, and number of days (hours) credited to you on your next NCS date anniversary. Annual paid sick leave entitlements, along with applicable information and processes are outlined in Article 13 – Sick Leave Benefits of our Collective Agreement. Please contact the TEAM office or our Labour Relations Officer, Paula Baryluk, if you have questions or concerns relating to paid sick leave benefits.
New Collective Agreement: The TEAM website will be updated shortly with our newly revised Collective Agreement (CA), including wage schedules. In the meantime, members looking for the updated CA language can refer to the Memorandum of Agreement, and contact the TEAM office to request a copy of the new wage schedules for 2022-2024, or if there are any questions.
