TEAM Supports Striking PSAC Members: Over 155,000 federal workers and members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) have been out on strike since April 19, standing up for a fair wage increase, remote work options, and better job security. Here in Manitoba, thousands of PSAC members are walking picket lines outside of federal government offices in support of their respective bargaining teams. Today over the lunch hour, TEAM members and staff will be showing support for PSAC members picketing at the 269 Main Street, Wpg. location, beside the TEAM office – we encourage members who are interested and able to do so to please join us, or other picket line nearest your location; we will be gathering at the TEAM office, 200-1 Wesley Ave., for 12, noon.
IFPTE Dominick D. Critelli, Jr. Annual Scholarships: There is still time to submit applications for the 2023 Dominick D. Critelli, Jr. Annual Scholarships.The International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers awards four scholarships of $2,500 USD each to children or grandchildren of IFPTE members who wish to continue their education beyond high school. Details of the scholarships, eligibility criteria and the application form can be found here. A TEAM member’s child has been awarded a scholarship the past two years in a row – let’s see if we can keep the streak alive. Applications must be postmarked or submitted electronically on or before May 15, 2023.
National Day of Mourning & SAFE Workers of Tomorrow Leaders’ Walk: “Honouring the Manitoba workers who never made it home”, this year’s SAFE Workers of Tomorrow Leaders’ Walk in recognition of the National Day of Mourning will be held on Friday, April 28th, starting at 11:30 am at Union Centre (Broadway & Smith St, Wpg), and travelling down Broadway to the Workers Memorial at Memorial Park. TEAM and our affiliate the Manitoba Federation of Labour invite members (as able) to join the walk, followed by a Day of Mourning Ceremony at the Workers Memorial at 12, noon.
