Opportunity to Attend MFL Women’s Conference: We have an opportunity for a member to attend the Manitoba Federation of Labour’s 2023 Women’s Conference to be held on September 26-27, 2023 at the Union Centre, 275 Broadway (Winnipeg). If you are interested in attending, please submit your name to the TEAM office by 3:30pm, this Friday, September 15, 2023 (registration deadline) and indicate your preference for the two breakout workshops you’d like to attend from the following options (unfortunately, Workshop 1 – Women in Leadership: Knowing & Communicating our Strengths is already full):
- Feminism in the Labour Movement
- Supporting Members Dealing with Domestic Violence
- Commanding the Floor: An Introduction to Union Parliamentary Procedures
Selection of the member to attend will be made by draw and the winning applicant will be notified on Sept 15th. TEAM will request the release of the participant from their work duties and cover the member’s pay and registration fee to attend. Meals are provided at the conference.
TEAM Scholarship – Reminder: The Scholarship Committee is calling for applications to TEAM’s annual scholarship program. TEAM will award scholarships to members and members’ children as follows:
- Four $500 scholarships to TEAM members to help defray the cost of a work or career related academic or vocational course or seminar, and
- Four $1,000 scholarships to dependent children, including stepchildren, of TEAM members enrolled in first year post-secondary education at university, community college, trade school or an apprenticeship program.
Details of the scholarships, eligibility criteria and application forms are available here. The deadline for applications is September 29, 2023.
Bell Employee Survey: We understand that Bell sent out an employee survey earlier today from an external email address with a subject line reading, “2023 Team Survey: Committed to always getting better with your feedback!”, which caused some confusion for TEAM members who thought the email may have come from us. Just to confirm, this is a Bell Employee survey, not a survey from TEAM.
