ARTICLE 1 – RECOGNITION AND SCOPE

1.01

All employees of Bell Canada normally residing in Manitoba excluding:

i.   employees covered by Board certification orders 555-3860 (CEP, now Unifor) and 555-3948 (IBEW);

ii.  graduate engineers who are members of or who are eligible to be members of an association of professional engineers, requiring such membership or eligibility for membership in order to perform the tasks required in positions;

iii. National Managers;

iv.  Directors’ roles (i.e., CP4s) and above;

v.  other employees normally residing in Manitoba who perform Human Resource, Legal, Finance, Pension, and Corporate Security functions and are generally involved in labour relations matters.

1.02 No employees/positions covered by this collective agreement will be converted to become a National Manager. A role for a National Manager needs to be posted.
1.03 In the event that Company hires a new employee in the province of Manitoba that would be excluded from the bargaining unit as per article 1.01(v), the Company shall notify the union at the time the offer is accepted.
1.04

The Company will advise the Union of the name and telephone number of all newly hired and re-hired bargaining unit employees upon their engagement. The Company agrees that the TEAM Executive Director or designated TEAM Staff Representative shall be provided a maximum of 15 minutes to meet with new employees entering the TEAM bargaining unit during their first six months of employment in the bargaining unit.

It is understood and agreed that the purpose of such a meeting shall be for the Executive Director or designated TEAM Staff Representative to introduce themselves and provide the employee(s) with a copy of the collective agreement and other relevant information. All arrangements for this purpose shall be made through the Consultant Labour Relations.
