Negotiated General Wage Increase: A reminder to TEAM members that you will be receiving a 2% general wage increase (GWI), effective February 20, 2024. This is the last of the three negotiated GWI’s under our current collective agreement.
Opportunity to Attend the Mel Myers Labour Conference: TEAM will send up to two members to the 21st Annual Mel Myers Labour Conference, to be held on March 14 & 15, 2024 at the Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre in Winnipeg. If you are interested in attending, please contact the TEAM office by Thursday, February 22nd. Preference will be given to members who have not previously attended a Mel Myers Labour Conference and beyond that, attendance will be decided by draw. TEAM will request the release of the participants from their work duties and cover the members’ pay and registration fee to attend. Meals are provided at the conference.
Campaign to Keep Telco Jobs in Manitoba and TEAM: As part of our ongoing campaign to keep telecommunications jobs in Manitoba and TEAM, and in light of Bell’s recent announcement to cut 4,800 jobs, or 9% of its workforce, TEAM President, Dave Eyjolfson, sent a letter this week to the Honourable Malaya Marcelino, Minister of Labour and Immigration for Manitoba. The purpose of the letter was to request a meeting to discuss the impacts of Bell’s continued job reductions on our membership and local economy and ways the provincial government can assist us to protect our existing jobs and increase job creation for Manitobans in the telco sector.
