TEAM Bargaining Survey – We received 257 responses, this is 56% of TEAM’s membership. On the nature of work: 67% are concerned about job security; 63% saw their workload increase over the past year; 55% are working unpaid overtime of up to six hours per week; 35% are in jobs where the geographic scope of work extends beyond Manitoba; and 42% have barely manageable or unmanageable workloads. On renewing the collective agreement, respondents selected these factors as most important: protect vacation entitlements 91%; maintain VRTIP 91%; protect PLDs 86%; protect sick leave benefits 83%; maintain AIP as part of compensation 80%; protect standards of work 74%; and maintain overtime provisions 51%. Themes emerged in the comments section, exemplified by these quotes: “the promotional path for TEAM members within Bell is unknown and without this, future opportunities for role changes/growth seem unachievable”; “most work that I do is to move processes and workload to external processes or out east”; “it’s mentally draining… to have to worry about [job security]”; “job security… needs to be addressed. If our jobs keep getting cut, then nothing else in the agreement matters”; and “we need updated job descriptions as there is so much job creep here and day to day things change that all cause mental health issues and work home life unhealthy”.
