Negotiations Update:  Progress continued this week towards reaching a revised collective agreement.  Negotiations remain ongoing, and the parties have agreed to extend the conciliation period up to and including October 14, 2022. In the event that Bell responds favorably next week to our Negotiating Committee’s latest package proposal and the parties are able to reach a tentative deal, we will be scheduling information meetings for the membership to be held virtually sometime during the last two weeks of October (17th-28th) to go over the details ahead of a ratification vote. Look for additional updates to be provided next week.

TEAM Board Elections: It is Board nomination and election time again!  As such, we are seeking nominations from members for the following positions on the TEAM Union Inc./TEAM-IFPTE Local 161 Board, with terms starting January 1, 2023:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Second Vice-President
  • Secretary/Treasurer
  • Six Board Members

The positions of President and Vice-President are also elected as IFPTE Convention Delegates (next convention will be held in 2024).

The TEAM Board ensures good governance and oversight in advancing the social and economic welfare of its members, negotiating such matters as compensation, conditions of work, and benefits and representing members in discussion with the employer.  The duties of the Board are mainly outlined in the Bylaws and to a lesser extent the Constitution.

Notes:

  • Board members will serve for a term of three years.
  • Board member training will take place in January.
  • The Board is required to meet a minimum of six times per year.
  • Board meetings take place at the TEAM office or at the Board’s discretion, virtually via a secure online platform, during normal working hours.
  • Board members will be released from their work duties to attend the meetings or can attend on personal time, and TEAM shall reimburse the employer for the cost of their wages or the member for the cost of their vacation time.
  • All Board positions are voluntary.

The nomination form is available online here.  The form must bear the signature of the Nominee and at least ten members-at-large (in good standing), and must be returned to the TEAM Election Committee, TEAM Office – B2000, or via email to team@teamunion.mb.ca (to the attention of the TEAM Election Committee) by end of day, November 14, 2022.

Please note that in the event there are more candidates than positions available, an election will be held and candidates for contested positions will be invited to submit a written campaign statement of not more than 100 words, which will be included in the ballot materials provided to members.

We are also seeking three members to sit on the Election Committee; the committee will work with the TEAM office to facilitate a vote, if one is needed.  If you are interested in volunteering for the Election Committee, please click here, before October 14th to put your name forward.
